ADAMA 2023 Impact Report

OVERVIEW

ADAMA has had a positive impact on our community by providing access to art and culture to a diverse audience. This year we celebrated five years as an organization and look to the future to continue building. Overall attendance at our first ever exhibitions, experiences, and events exponentially increased, resulting in a boost to awareness of our brand and artists featured.

Our educational programs have provided opportunities for people of all ages to learn about the arts, history, and culture, leading to increased cultural awareness and understanding of the Diaspora. ADAMA’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity with the African diaspora has made it a valuable resource for the community, and it continues to be a source of inspiration and enrichment.

2023 EXPERIENCES

2023 EXPERIENCES

In many African traditions, the audience is an integral part of the production. We talk at our movies. We sing and dance at our concerts. This “call and response” engages and affirms. Rather than providing “programs” we create experiences that are dynamic, sensory-rich, and immersive.
This year over 1000+ people attended our experiences and were part of making each interaction a historic moment!

LOOKING AHEAD
FUNDRAISING GALA

The gala celebrates an under-recognized established visual artist and plants a seed for an emerging visual artist, both based in Georgia, by presenting The Nellie Mae Rowe Award, generously made possible by The Judith Alexander Foundation.

The February 16th, 2024 gala will be an immersive multi-sensory event showcasing art by the award recipients, an awards presentation with live entertainment, and dinner. The money raised will serve as seed money for ADAMA’s forthcoming capital campaign and building fund.

ABOUT THE AWARD

The Judith Alexander Foundation has generously provided a grant for the first presentation of The Nellie Mae Rowe Award to be awarded to our committee-selected Flower and Seed honorees.

The Judith Alexander Foundation (JAF) honors the multifaceted legacy of the late art patron, Judith Alexander, by supporting Georgia visual artists and by preserving and expanding recognition of the extraordinary existence and artistry of Nellie Mae Rowe.

LOOKING AHEAD

The past year has been a remarkable one for ADAMA. We have continued to inspire, educate and engage our community through a range of innovative and dynamic programs and exhibitions. The support of our members and donors has been vital in ensuring that we are able to maintain our commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of our community.

As we look ahead to the future, we are confident that we will continue to make a significant impact, providing opportunities for all to explore, learn, and appreciate the Diaspora and all it has to offer. We are grateful for the support we have received and look forward to continuing to serve our community for many years to come.
